I’ve been on the lookout for these mushrooms, as they are among my favorites this time of year due to their vibrant colors and unique textures. Known as Fly Alaric mushrooms, they are poisonous, but fatalities from ingestion are quite rare. A concern for parents is that these mushrooms resemble those seen in many children’s games and popular culture, such as the Super Mushroom power-up in the Mario franchise and the houses in The Smurfs. Use this image to teach children to admire but not touch! Enjoy!
