If you walk through the parks in Seattle you will most likely see this plant. When you see them like this you know that spring flowers are not far off. This is the holly-like Oregon Grape, member of the barberry family and as you can see is just about to blossom. When they are like this there is lots of color in the buds that are getting ready to pop and the leaves with spikes just adds to the drama. Enjoy!
