As I meander through the neighborhood at this time of year, it’s as though nature has donned its most splendid autumn attire. The air carries a crispness, and the world transforms into a canvas of warm hues. Here are the snapshots that caught my eye in the last few days:
Maple Leaf Surprise: Amidst the branches of a grand tree, three maple leaves sprout boldly right out of the trunk. Their fiery reds leaves stand out against the white bark, like miniature flames. The play of light—perhaps filtered through the canopy—turns this unexpected encounter into a pleasant revelation.
Berberis Brilliance: The berberis shrub beckons with its striking display. Imagine a burst of orange leaves encircling a core of steadfast green. It’s as if the leaves conspired to create a living sunburst.
Those pods of red-orange berries, like tiny jewels, add intrigue. Curiously, it wasn’t until I returned home that I realized these berries are the offspring of iris seeds. Nature’s secrets, hidden in plain sight!
Sumac’s Fiery Farewell: The sumac, the quintessential harbinger of autumn. Its feathery foliage blazes in shades of crimson and rust. You’ll find it gracing local parks, a beacon of seasonal change. Each leaf seems to whisper, “Embrace the fleeting beauty; winter awaits.”
Isn’t it remarkable how nature paints its own masterpieces?  Enjoy!
